Under the Rug Is Coming January 2027

I am beyond excited to officially share that my upcoming book, Under the Rug, will be released in January 2027.

This story has been years in the making, and the journey to bring it into the world has been deeply personal. Under the Rug is more than a work of fiction. It is a story about what happens when the things families refuse to talk about don't disappear. They simply get buried.

And eventually, somebody has to lift the rug.

What Under the Rug Is About

At its core, Under the Rug explores the painful and often unspoken realities of childhood trauma, family secrets, silence, and survival within an African American family.

But this is not simply a story about what happened to someone.

It is a story about what happens after.

How do you grow up when part of your childhood was stolen from you? How do you love, trust, build relationships, raise a family, forgive, or even understand yourself when you've spent years carrying something you were taught not to talk about?

Through tragedy, humor, family, faith, love, and healing, Under the Rug follows the complicated journey of confronting the past without allowing it to dictate the future.

Why This Story Matters

For generations, families have survived by putting painful things away.

Don't talk about it.

Don't embarrass the family.

Don't tell anybody our business.

Pray about it.

Move on.

But silence doesn't always protect us. Sometimes it protects the very things that are hurting us.

Under the Rug was written to challenge that silence.

I want this story to create conversations about childhood trauma, generational cycles, accountability, healing, and the courage it takes to tell the truth. Most importantly, I want survivors to see that their lives are bigger than what happened to them.

Survival is part of the story. It doesn't have to be the ending.

The Road to January 2027

The journey toward publication is officially underway, and there is so much more coming.

Readers can look forward to pre-orders beginning in November 2026, including opportunities for signed copies and special releases. I am also planning book readings, conversations, signing events, and opportunities to bring readers together around the themes explored in the book.

Under the Rug will also help expand a larger conversation around survivor empowerment, including the FIERCE Survivor Collection and future community conversations centered on healing, breaking generational cycles, and reclaiming our stories.
